Bio

After finishing in the top ten at four different World Junior Championships (2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005), Mari joined the elite ranks by competing in her first World Cup in 2005 as well as the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. In 2008 she also finished 3rd in the U23 World Championships becoming the first and only African to medal at a ITU Triathlon Elite World Championship.

Mari won the very prestigious academic scholarship, a Rhodes Scholarship in 2010 to study at Oxford University. She completed her MSc in Applied Statistics in 2011 and MBA in 2013.

In December 2015 she joined Darren Smith’s squad and since then has had a number of successful races including securing 11th place at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
