Carlos started competing in ITU para-triathlon races in 2014. Since then, he has had five podiums, most recently, securing two silver medals, one at the 2017 Gold Coast ITU World Paratriathlon Series and then on the Gold Coast, followed by a bronze at the 2017 Edmonton ITU World Paratriathlon Series In 2019 Carlos earned the gold medal in the Funchal ITU Paratriathlon World Cup.
