Hungary’s Csongor Lehmann continued his family’s rich triathlon tradition on Saturday afternoon on the Gold Coast, coming home to win the 2018 Junior World title in grand style. Lehmann’s father and coach Tibor was a National Champion in the ‘90s, and today watched his son crowned World Champion. Well-placed out of the water and again through T2, it was a devastating run - 20 seconds quicker than anyone else in the field - that saw him home for gold.

Having another best run of the season, Spaniard Mario Mola had a blistering come-from-behind performance to become the victor for the fourth time this season after his win at the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Montreal.Leaving the second transition with a deficit of over a minute, Mola flipped on his switch to chase down Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt, who led for the entire leg until the final kilometre of the race when the Spaniard took control.
Increasing her 2018 World Triathlon Series gold medal tally to three, Great Britain’s Vicky Holland won her third WTS race of the season after claiming victory at the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Montreal. Winning her second Olympic-distance race of the year, the Brit advanced 805 points in the overall Series rankings after the Penultimate event to put her in a strong contention position for the World Championship Crown at the Gold Coast Grand Final next month. Starting off on the wrong foot with a late start off the pontoon, the Brit clawed herself back in the game by catching up to the leaders on the bike, then breaking away on the run to eventually win the race.

In the final Mixed Relay event of the 2018 series, Australia broke the tape ahead of the 22 other countries that toed the line on Saturday afternoon in Edmonton, Canada. The largest field of the season included three countries racing the unique Mixed Relay format for the first time: China, Hong Kong and Poland. The race was hot in temperature and scorching in competition, with the top teams in the Mixed Relay standings showing up to earn valuable points in the Olympic Qualification Ranking.
