Bids Open For 2023 & 2024 World Triathlon Championship Finals

World Triathlon is welcoming bids for the 2023 and 2024 World Triathlon Championship Finals, the 2023 and 2024 World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships and the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships.
Host Cities, with the endorsement of their respective National Federation, can bid to host a World Triathlon Championship Finals in 2023 or 2024, the crown jewel of World Triathlon’s annual calendar. Previous hosts have included such cities as London, Budapest, Beijing, Auckland, Chicago, Gold Coast and Lausanne, with the next ones planned in Edmonton in 2021 and Abu Dhabi in 2022.
The World Triathlon Championships Finals creates an instant economic impact by bringing in a significant number of international tourists to the Host City, consisting of over 5,000 competitors, support teams, officials, family and friends. With the addition of local races, the number of competitors can exceed 10,000. The occasion of a World Triathlon Championship Finals brings together athletes of all levels, from future stars and Olympic medallists to every aspect of the mass participation market. Triathlon is one of the fastest growing mass participation sports in the world and Host Cities can benefit from major sports tourism activation.

Host Cities have a unique opportunity to host a World Triathlon event on a multi-year basis. National Triathlon development initiatives and creating a genuine sporting legacy can also result from hosting a successful international World Triathlon event.
World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships
World Triathlon is also welcoming bids from Host Cities, with the endorsement of their respective National Federation, for a World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships in 2023 or 2024. The host of the inaugural edition of this event will be Bermuda, in 2021, with the 2022 edition awarded to Montreal.

World Triathlon Multisport Championships
World Triathlon is also welcoming bids for the 2024 edition of the World Triathlon Multisport Championships, a mega event that includes the World Triathlon Long Distance Championships; World Triathlon Duathlon Championships (Sprint and Standard); World Triathlon Cross World Championships; World Triathlon Aquathlon Championships and World Triathlon Aquabike Championships.
The World Triathlon Multisport Championships are designed to provide a well organised event in all triathlon-related multisport disciplines, with a wide global reach and high-quality competitions for athletes.
Taking place over approximately 10 days, the World Triathlon Multisport Championships is more than just a sports competition for the athletes. It is also an important development opportunity from the grassroots to elite level, giving athletes from a wide range of Age-Groups the opportunity to race. The entire occasion is a visual spectacle designed to inspire and motivate, from the experienced to the newcomer. The estimated number of athletes participating at the championships is 4,000.
The first edition of the Multisport Championships was held in Penticton (Canada) in 2017, to then move to Fynn (Denmark) in 2018 and Pontevedra (Spain) in 2019. In 2020 multisport athletes from all over the world will gather in Almere (Netherlands), and then move to Townsville (Australia) in 2022 and Ibiza (Spain) in 2023.
Deadline for presenting bids for the three events finishes on February 28, with selected host cities being announced on March 31, 2021.
