After just a couple of year’s triathlon racing, Great Britain’s Jessica Learmonth burst onto the Elite scene in 2016 with her first European Cup win, before going on to land a top-10 finish at WTS Leeds just a few months later in front of her home fans.
Silver at the 2017 Cape Town World Cup followed, kick-starting a strong year that saw solid WTS performances and a first-ever podium at the top level; the silver medal at WTS Stockholm. At the Grand Final in Rotterdam at the end of that year, Learmonth took the bronze, firmly establishing herself as part of a new era of GB golden girls.
In 2018, Learmonth finished the season 5th in the overall Series rankings. Silver at the WTS Abu Dhabi curtain-raiser was followed by the same medal at the Commonwealth Games - both in the individual and the Mixed Relay. After missing out on WTS Bermuda, Learmonth managed six top-15 finishes (including three top-10) in the second half of a memorable year.
The 2019 season saw her consistency improve even further, landing no fewer than five podiums to finish second in the overall rankings behind World Champion Katie Zaferes.
A true all-rounder who is one of the strongest swimmers on the circuit and powerful on the bike, at Tokyo 2020, Jess won Olympic gold as part of the British Mixed Team Relay.
