In what looked like a near perfect race outcome that suited her strengths, Flora Duffy (BER) had a dominating performance at the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Rotterdam to claim victory and reclaim her ITU World Championship title for the second year in a row.Making a name for herself as one of the most consistent swim, bike and run athletes, Duffy’s Grand Final gold ended a season that saw her claim six WTS races in the year, that all aided in her repeat world honour.

2017 WTS Rotterdam Men Highlights

Keeping the world title for the nation of Spain for the fifth year in a row, a third-place finish at the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Rotterdam was enough to grant Mario Mola a back-to-back ITU World Triathlon Championship crown in a season-best performance. With the repeat title, Mola became only the second man in ITU history since the inception of the WTS to ever win two-straight world titles.Winning the Grand Final race gold was France’s Vincent Luis, who claimed his first WTS victory of the season. Luis’s win came from a dominating and dramatic run effort, after breaking away from a powerful lead pack in the final metres to seize the event gold.

2017 WTS Stockholm Women Highlights

Becoming only the second woman in ITU history to have won five World Triathlon Series races in a single season, Bermuda’s Flora Duffy secured the place in history after a dominating victory at the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Stockholm. The win secured her the overall Series leader position going into the Rotterdam Grand Final next month as she will enter the race with a perfect score of 4000 points in the effort of retaining her world title.

2017 WTS Stockholm Men Highlights

Jonathan Brownlee got his first victory of the season after performing a perfect race in 2017 ITU World Triathlon Stockholm. “A great swim, a breakaway on the bike and I pushed hard on the run”, as he said after the race. A perfect combination to redeem himself from his disappointing 4th place in the previous two races. After him, silver and bronze was decided on a sprint finish uphill, with Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) claiming the silver and Pierre Le Corre (FRA) bronze.

2017 WTS Montreal Men Highlights

An impressive run gave Spaniard Javier Gomez Noya his 14th victory in the World Triathlon Series after claiming the title of the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Montreal. The Spaniard, five times world champion, showed that the Olympic distance is the perfect course for him as he sailed to the finish line to claim his second WTS win of the season. Accompanying Gomez on the podium was Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) and Richard Murray (RSA).

2017 WTS Montreal Women Highlights

Australian triathlete Ashleigh Gentle became today the first ever winner of the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Montreal, in a brand new circuit that has became the newest addition to the WTS. The win was not only a first for the host city, but was a first for Gentle as she captured her first ever WTS gold. 2017 Hamburg Men Highlights

Becoming the first man to ever repeat a win at the venue, Spaniard Mario Mola captured his fifth career sprint distance victory at the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Hamburg.Surviving and conquering a mass pack that lasted throughout the race, Mola earned his win on the run, where he eased on by his competition on the five-kilometre course. The win not only put Mola in a tied position for most sprint distance victories in a career (with Jonathan Brownlee), but also pushed him to the position of most WTS sprint distance podiums in ITU history with eight.

It is hard to believe that Flora Duffy (BER) had to miss the first two races of the World Triathlon Series due to injury as she continues to be unstoppable after earning her third straight victory of the season at the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Hamburg.Collecting her first-ever sprint distance win, Duffy executed a breakaway performance that brought her into the finish line without a challenger in sight to earn her fifth WTS victory in her career.
