2018 is going to have plenty of dates for American triathletes to mark on their calendars. The American Triathlon Confederation (CAMTRI) Executive Board has just approved the calendar of events for the 2018 season, a year marked by three WTS events hosted in the Continent, four World Cups, one ParaTriathlon Series, two Para World Cups and the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, as well as 12 American Cups and the Continental Championships for every distance.
The season will start in February in Bridgetown (Barbados) with the CAMTRI Central American and Caribbean Championships to then move to Habana (Cuba) for the third edition of their American Cup. The American Cup will have stops in the United States, Costa Rica, Chile, México, Ecuador, Peru and Canada.
The Iberoamerican Championships of Olympic distance will take place in the beautiful beaches of Valparaiso, in Chile, while the Sprint distance will take place in Santo Domingo, while Sarasota (USA) will host the North American Championships. In June, triathletes from all over the Continent will gather in Brazilia (Brasil) for the American Championships, while duathletes will have to go to Santiago (Chile) for the Continental championship.
For the 2018 season, triathletes from all over the world will head to America for three World Triathlon Series: Bermuda, in April; Edmonton in July -also host of a World Paratriathlon Series- and Montreal in August. As per World Cups, New Orleans (USA) is the new addition to the American calendar, to join Sarasota (USA), Huatulco (Mexico) and Salinas (Ecuador). Both New Orleans and Sarasota will also host Paratriathlon World Cups.
The younger triathletes will play one of the biggest events of the year on their own Continent, with the Youth Olympic Games taking place in October in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The qualifying event will take place in Salinas (Ecuador) in late April.
