After racing short course as an amateur, Rye’s (now Matthews’) first middle-distance race was IRONMAN Calgary 70.3 2018, winning followed by becoming English National Champion at the Vitruvian Triathlon (MD).
Going full time in 2019 gained results earning her a professional licence, multiple 70.3 podia, winning the ETU Middle Distance Championship and 16th at the 70.3 World Championship in Nice. Going long on honeymoon, she claimed fourth place at IRONMAN Western Australia in 8:50.
Joined the BMC-Vifit Pro Triathlon Team for 2020 (till 2022).
Out of COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 she time trialled to win the UK RTTC National 100-mile Championship (3:54) followed by wins at IRONMAN 70.3 Tallinn and IRONMAN Florida (8:40).
2021 highlights were a 2nd (to Daniela Ryf) at IRONMAN Tulsa, with a 2:49 run, a ‘home’ win in IM UK (Bolton), selection for Europe for the Collins Cup, winning her match, and 4th in the 70.3 World Championship in Utah.
2022 saw a ‘break-out’ win in IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote and 2nd in the rescheduled 2021 IRONMAN World Championship at St George.
