Impairment Details
In August 2004, her left foot was amputated following a recurrence of Synovial Sarcoma, a cancer that affects soft tissue, usually in the joints or extremities.
Start of sporting career
She completed her first triathlon in 2011.
Reason for taking up this sport
Her amputation forced her to a take a break from sports but after graduating from school she rediscovered her love of sports through the Challenged Athletes Foundation [CAF]. Shortly thereafter she completed her first triathlon and hasn’t looked back since. “I had always enjoyed running, and after my amputation, that is definitely what I missed the most.”
Ambitions
To compete at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
