World Champion Jane Egan has rounded off an outstanding year in paratriathlon by winning the Disability Sport award at last night’s Sunday Mail and sportscotland 2010 Scottish Sports Awards.

”It was an amazing evening and I was thrilled to win the award - I couldn’t believe it!”
Jane Egan,
Paratriathlon World Champion TRI 1

The paratriathlete from Kilbarchan, near Glasgow has seen unprecedented success this year winning both the European and World Championships, despite this being only her second year involved in the sport.

Jane was delighted to win the award commenting:”It was an amazing evening and I was thrilled to win the award - I couldn’t believe it!  It was more good press for paratriathlon too in the build up to the impending IPC decision on paratriathlon for the Paralympics.”

The award represents a double success for Jane having won the British Triathlon Female Paratriathlete of the Year less than a month ago.

Jane’s award represents another demonstration of the continued growth of this modern and dynamic sport, as the decision by the IPC to include paratriathlon in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games programme comes ever closer.

ITU has launched a ‘Paratriathlon For Paralympics’ awareness campaign with a Facebook group “Paratriathlon for Paralympics” set up to promote the bid and for fans to voice their support.
